Writing from Corporeal Writing Course “Writing and/as the Mother”

I had the honor of taking a class with Amanda Montei and Corporeal Writing this October and it was one of the most beautiful writing groups I have been a part of. Called Writing and/as the Mother, the readings she provided and the writing prompts she gave were hugely generative. But mostly, the space she created in our Zoom meetings made us feel heard, granted us permission to talk about the hard parts and created a sense of solidarity and bravery in each and every person. Some of the writing that was created during that class (that honestly knocked my socks of) is collected in this video. My piece is at the 8:24 mark. It is a work in progress in which I talk about my linguistic indoctrination. It is called "Words.”
