Article on Scary Mommy
My first published piece went live today on the Scary Mommy blog. I’ve been a fan of their content for the last year, as they consistently publish a real, honest account of motherhood, warts and all. When I was working on this piece during the pandemic, I always knew that its ideal home would be Scary Mommy. When I sent it off on a Monday, I didn’t expect to hear back for a while, but just 24-hours later, they emailed back and said they would be thrilled to publish it. As soon as I heard the news, I was both elated and terrified. This was a very personal piece but I also knew that it encapsulated so many feeings that we were all experiencing during this time. The response was overwhelmingly positive and I felt for sure that, despite my fears, I was on the right path, writing on my own for the very first time.
Although I titled it “Marriage in the Time of Covid,” it went live with the heading: “Don’t Think You’re Marriage Will Survive the Pandemic? You’re Not Alone.” Of course this isn’t what I would have titled it, but I understood their choice.
